The Fairytale Delusion
Desperately Georgie tries to define to Ben that if he waited about about 5 years until she turned 18 that they could be together and nobody would ask any questions even if by that all together he will be 31..32. Kindly Ben listens, but tells her that though he is very flattered he feels she is too YOUNG to fall in Mate (with a capital L) and that he is sure she will find her Prince Charming someday...
This photo has definitely nothing to do with what i am going to talk about to be honest, it just made me tease.
So how do you see Prince Charming ? He has to be tall,white, affluent,blonde/brunette, longish flowing trifle and VERY good looking. I am sure men feel the power. But i am sure it is not as much as women do.
The Disney Princesses i identified with when i was younger were always "extraneous" or not typical of the classic english fairytale. Mulan, Jasmine and Pocahontas...who was my favorite !! Very likely because her complexion was closer to mine. The only traditional princess i about i liked was Belle in "Beauty and the Beast" but only because she had a make of her own and saw past the outer surface and looked for inner loveliness and she liked to read( yes i want that library!!!). My big companion studies animation so he was the first person to inform me that the first awful disney princess story is to be made. It shall be set in New Orleans and it shall be Disney's last 2D animation yarn.
So what is the problem with fairytales for someone like me??? I have 5 Reasons:
1) The Deficiency Of Minorities !!!: I know these are European Stories but i into that colonisation comes with a certain amount of responsibility. HAHA :-) Nah to be above-board i do not blame them (entirely)....
