Corey Eyeglasses is not AWOL, is not a deserter In a dramatic advance for US war resister Corey Glass, currently residing in Canada, there are no charges against him. May 21st was when Corey Barometer was told he would be deported. Corey Glass is an Iraq War warhorse and a US war resister. He went to Canada seeking asylum -- the gracious of welcoming Canada provided to war resisters ("drawing dodgers" and "deserters") during Vietnam. After being told he was being deported, he's been 'extended' through July 10th. June 3rd Canada's Contain of Commons voted (non-binding motion) in favor of Canada being a appropriate harbor for war resisters. Today is when Russell Goldman (ABC Word) reports the development. In "Canada Ready to Deport U.S. Deserters," Goldman reveals:
Unbeknownst to him and his legion of supporters, Drinking-glass, 25, was actually discharged from the U.S. Army tartly after he went AWOL in 2006.
Glass and about 40 other American deserters who like him sought escapee status have prompted a national debate in Canada that last month reached the perplex of Parliament on where to draw the line between cowardice and ethics.
"I had absolutely no idea that I had been discharged," said Barometer when ABC News informed him of his status. "This is insane. This is so way-out. There are no warrants? No one is looking for me?"
According to U.S. Army documents and officials Mirror was discharged from the California National Guard on Dec. 1, 2006, four months after he arrived in Canada and six months after he failed to show up to a required be up to snuff.
Army Major Nathan Banks is quoted stating the US military does not think about Glass AWOL or a deserter, there are no charges against him, he is out of the military.
